1957 Plymouth Savoy Club Sedan
1957 Plymouth Savoy Club Sedan

Bought new in 1957 by Mr. Freeman from Babbit Motors in Laurinburg, NC. Mrs. Freeman the local 1st (later 2nd) grade teacher in Raeford, NC drove the car until 1977. The car was found and bought by its previous owner in 1979 and I purchased the car from him in April of 2006. The car was all original down to the faded Jet Black paint and Flathead 6 engine. I drive my Plymouth everyday as my daily driver. Good weather or bad.

I drove her almost two years with the flathead 6, in the meantime I had replaced the 10 year old cracking whitewalls for some blackwalls just because they were cheaper... but the old flathead soon began to start dieing. So I decided to upgrade the car to a correct type V8 engine. She is now powered by a 1964 model Poly 318 and aluminum 3 speed Torqueflite 727. I still retained the pushbuttons, but now have the added bonus of a parking gear. The earlier transmissions did not have a park position. The rear end is out of a '64 Chrysler with rear parking brakes. The '64 model rearend is a higher ratio for better fuel economy and high speed driving. I repainted the car, and had the original seat inserts reupholstered in October of 2007.
