It’s countdown to Tulsarama time!
It’s hard to believe, but the start of Tulsarama is just

away!
The members of the CCC who plan on attending this event should really devote some time to making a club itinerary of what we want to do and when, so when the time comes we are not scrambling to make arrangements for anything. If you have suggestions or questions, please make a post on the forum about it. Your input is needed to make a club gathering a successful event!
I’m still taking order for shirts, so for anyone interested, I plan on placing an order this week. My cutoff day will be Friday, May 4th at noon. Paypal is the preferred method of payment. If you have any questions, you can send me a PM or an email.
I’d like to take a moment to thank Earl for his time and effort for our first official club stickers. They look great! If you are ordering stickers, please note on your payment to me how many stickers you are requesting. And please make sure to email Earl your address. This will make life a lot easier on all parties involved.
Moving forward our next piece of club merchandise that we’d like to see become a reality are key fobs. The club officers will keep you posted on the progress and when these will become available for purchase.
As always, if you have any ideas/suggestions or comments on ways for us to make the newsletter better, please feel free to email any of the officers. We are always open to input from the members here. Remember, we are an extended family!

So You Want To Build A Movie Clone...
by Wayne DeGeorge, CCC President
One of the best things about the CCC and Plymouth Central's forum members is the diversity. There have been many different approaches made in building Christine Movie Clones as well as a few Book Clones here and there. I thought it would be interesting to start a multiple "How To" series of articles for all of us to contribute too and utilize for current and future reference. I'll be the first to admit that I could use some help here and there, so for those of you that are interested we'll start with step number one.
1) The first step in building a Movie Clone is to find a 1958 Plymouth 2-door hardtop. The general consensus in the forum these days is that they are gowing rarer every day. This means that anyone serious about building a clone should understand from the get go that pickins are slim and finding the car itself will be the single biggest challenge in the whole process. A few good places to start your search (depending on $$) is right in your own area. Since I started my project I have found numerous "old time yards" that may or may not have that one overlooked '58 waiting for a new lease on life. Another good place to look is in the for sale forums at www.plymouthcentral.com and www.forwardlook.net. Occasionally cars will popup in varying conditions as well as project cars etc. Lastly...there's LEbay as we like to call it. Ebay has gotten many of us out of a jam from time to time but be forwarned. You are bidding against many people just like you and in most cases it's a fight to the death. Cars and parts often fetch max $$, so count your pennies and plan your strategy well. Here's what some fin fans and CCC members had to say about finding a Christine:
- DON'T Tell the person what you plan to do with their car....(They watch Barrett Jackson too)
- DON'T Let the person know how much you want it.
- DON'T Buy a complete basket case....
- DON'T Let your friends talk you out of doing one of those "STAR CARS"
- DON'T think your gonna get it cheap...
- DON'T Let your emotions get the better of you and you spend toooo much for it...
- DO Find out what you are in for.....
- DO Go to this site and others so you won't be in the dark about these cars....
- DO Realize that doing one of these cars takes REAL comittment. Not your average '57 Ch**y....
- DO realize that the parts for these cars are NOT CHEAP...
- DON'T let the CHRISTINE thing get you in over your head....
- DO Try to get as complete car as possible...
This is not meant to discourage, but this how it is....Just ask Wayne....BTW NICE job on the 58'....

Get to know alot of people. I've found many Plymouth's just by "talking cars" and asking around.
Only one hardtop however...but it was a major basketcase!

Go to a lot of car shows and talk to people there who have Forward Look cars. Take advantage of their connections...chances are some of them know someone who has the car you're looking for.
Try to find a locally available car. Shipping a car across country gets expensive. If you choose to go that route, make sure it is worth your while (ie. a good solid car) Don't pay to transport a rusted hulk across the country...chances are there are plenty of rusty Plymouths within a small radius of your home.
Don't impulse buy the first car you find because you're excited and impatient.

****Yes, one of the most important things to remember prior to beginning your search is that you want to find a car that is as complete as possible. Aside from getting more expensive, many little parts and trinkets are becoming super rare. A person could spend a fortune just trying to find missing parts before the cloning (restoration) even starts. Keep this in mind in starting your search.
So until Part II is published in the next newsletter, Good Luck! This is gonna get interesting!
